Genesee County pistol permit process
The application paperwork is picked up at the county office building #1 in the clerk’s office. The paperwork itself is $5.

-$106 for the fingerprinting fee
1) Complete a handgun safety class, you can see our class schedule here: NYS Class Schedule
2) Paperwork needs to be done in in duplicate, in black ink; four references who are not related to you and you have known for 1 year or more must sign BOTH copies of the application.
3) Permit use: in the “what do you need a pistol permit for?” entry, YOU MUST WRITE TARGET or HUNTING! Genesee Co. However, Genesee County now allows applicants to provide a personal reason to request a Pistol permit without restrictions. You can email us your reasons and we will give you advice on your wording.
The Genesee County process is an easy process for most, The process can take from 3 to 6 months.
